Why MS Ireland is Important to Me

April 29, 2026

Supporting MS Ireland is a cause close to my heart, largely due to my personal experience with the charity through my mother, Kathleen.

She was diagnosed with MS over 25 years ago. Throughout that time, she has never let the diagnosis dictate her approach to life, remaining consistently positive and pragmatic. She has regularly availed of the outings and events organised by MS Ireland, which she found to be a great way to meet others in similar situations. Many of the people she met at these events have since become close friends, providing a practical social network that makes a real difference in day-to-day life.

I have supported several MS Ireland initiatives over the years, most notably a sponsored climb of Croagh Patrick in County Mayo. Having seen first-hand the impact of the work MS Ireland does every day for families like ours, and for the 10,000 people living with MS in Ireland, it is especially meaningful to see MKC Communications name them as our chosen charity partner for 2026.

I am looking forward to supporting our fundraising initiatives throughout the year and helping to shine a light on the vital support, community and connection MS Ireland provides to families like mine across the country.

If you know someone affected by MS, MS Ireland’s support line and local branches are well worth knowing about. You can find details on the MS Ireland Website.

We’ll be launching our first big fundraiser in May. Follow MKC Communications here on LinkedIn for updates and details on how to get involved. If you would like to contribute in the meantime, you can do so via MS Society of Ireland: MKC Communications – Fundraising for MS Ireland 2026.
