Two primary schools have been crowned national champions in one of Ireland’s biggest school competitions, the Credit Union Schools Quiz, following a thrilling national final at the RDS in Dublin.
This year’s quiz saw over 25,000 pupils from schools across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland take part in local, regional, and national rounds with 88 teams competing in the grand final. RTÉ’s John Sharpson (Múinteoir John) hosted the event, bringing energy and humour to a fiercely contested day of questions covering everything from history and science to sport and popular culture.
Martin Busch, President of the Irish League of Credit Unions, congratulated the winners and paid tribute to all involved: "We’re incredibly proud of every student who took part in this year’s quiz. Their passion for learning and team spirit was inspiring to see. Huge congratulations to our winners - but this event is really about every child who stepped up, had a go, and learned something new along the way."
"A sincere thank you to the teachers, families and especially the volunteers from credit unions across the country who make this event possible. Their dedication at local, regional, and national level is what brings this competition to life every year."
The Credit Union Schools Quiz is a key part of the ILCU’s commitment to supporting children and families in the communities it serves. Through initiatives like this, the credit union movement promotes learning, curiosity, and confidence in young people, values that reflect the co-operative ethos at the heart of credit unions.
