Go-Ahead Ireland – Public transport provider to recruit 180 staff

February 3, 2022

Go-Ahead Ireland (GAI), the public transport bus service provider, has announced that it is seeking to recruit 180 staff, bringing its total workforce in Ireland to close to 800 people across all functions.

The company is looking to recruit bus drivers, engineers, administration, supervisory and business support functions.

Go-Ahead Ireland was appointed by the National Transport Authority in 2018, and currently operates 25 Outer Dublin Metropolitan Area (ODMA) routes, and 5 Dublin Commuter routes, with a fleet of over 200 buses. The company also operates services on the recently launched ‘C-Spine’ BusConnects network.

The new roles are being created due to the ongoing expansion of the business, and to meet the requirements of the implementation of the new BusConnects network redesign in Dublin.

The company will provide fully paid training to new drivers who do not currently have a license to drive a bus. More information on all the available roles and benefits for new joiners, can be found at https://www.goaheadireland.ie/careers

Commenting on the new roles, Go-Ahead Ireland Managing Director, Andrew Edwards stated, “This is an important milestone for Go-Ahead Ireland, and we are delighted to announce this growth. Since entering the market, we have steadily increased our presence, focusing on providing service excellence to the communities across Dublin and Leinster that we serve.

“While the majority of the roles that we are announcing are for bus drivers, we are recruiting for talent across our business. We are looking for a diverse range of skills at all levels of experience, so I would encourage anyone interested in pursuing a rewarding career serving the public, and one that offers flexibility and the opportunity for progression, to log on to our website and contact us.”

Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan TD said “Public Transport is one of the main tools we have to tackle climate change as well as alleviate congestion on our roads, so I welcome the announcement of these new roles today. Our public transport providers, including Go-Ahead have consistently worked throughout the pandemic to provide bus services to our communities. A lot of people over the last two years might feel that they want or need a change in their job or career, and public transport is a great option.”
