Help to Light Up LauraLynn Children’s Hospice for Christmas!

The annual lighting up ceremony will take place on Sunday 26th November and limited tickets are now on sale online.

LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, is once again hosting its much-loved Light Up LauraLynn from 3.30pm on Sunday 26th November.

This is the fifth year that LauraLynn has hosted Light Up LauraLynn and the event is now a firm favourite in the Christmas calendar.  The hospice grounds become a festival of Yuletide activities and games, including festive food and hot chocolate stands, a ‘Write to Santa’ zone, and performances by a range of acts including The SuperTones, the Legato Singers and their very own LauraLynn Choir.

There might even be a special visit by Santa Claus to help with the main event: the lighting up of LauraLynn’s 30ft Christmas tree by celebrity supporters and families.

This year the event will be ticketed for the first time, with individual passes costing €10 and family passes costing €25. Tickets can be purchased online via EventBrite at, and as numbers are restricted the public is being encouraged to snap them up before it’s too late.

It costs €5.1m per year to keep LauraLynn’s Children’s Hospice open, €3.5m of which is generated through fundraised income from events and activities like Light Up. However, there is a critical shortfall of €1m in fundraising this year, so every contribution received from the supporters and every ticket sold for Light Up LauraLynn will be vital in helping to make up this deficit by Christmas.

“This year’s Light Up Fair will be our best yet. Children big and small will enjoy a truly special evening where we remember loved ones and we look forward with hope to a happy Christmas for all LauraLynn families and friends.  The atmosphere is always fantastic and everyone has a great time”, said Sharon Morrow, CEO, LauraLynn.

Light Up LauraLynn is also ideal for people looking for last minute gift ideas.  The LauraLynn Christmas Shop will be open to purchase LauraLynn-branded gifts such as decorations, candles, teddy bears, wrapping paper featuring designs by LauraLynn children, and more.

LauraLynn’s much-loved Christmas cards will also be available on the night, and this year they come in two sets: a special pack created by the children at LauraLynn, plus a more traditional set of designs. If people can’t make the fair the cards are also available from LauraLynn’s online Christmas Shop at

LauraLynn, the only dedicated children’s hospice in the State, provides clinical care, healthcare support, and palliative care services to children with exceptional and life-limiting conditions.

Since opening in 2011, LauraLynn has cared for more than 325 children and their families and provided more than 275,000 hours of short stay care provided to children in LauraLynn Hospice.

For those attending Light Up LauraLynn, the Hospice is a five minute walk from the Luas Green Line stop at Sandyford stop, and for drivers there will be parking available in Leopardstown Racecourse.
