Co. Dubin VEC welcomes Minister’s decision on new second level school at Clonburris.
County Dublin VEC has welcomed the announcement by the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills, Mary Coughlan TD that the new second-level school in Clonburris, Lucan, will be established as a VEC school formally in partnership with Educate Together.
Speaking on behalf of County Dublin VEC, Dr. Marie Griffin (Acting CEO) said “The Tánaiste’s decision marks an exciting new departure in second level education. County Dublin VEC looks forward to working closely with Educate Together to provide a school at Clonburris that caters for the whole community and for all of the existing primary schools in the area. In keeping with its ethos of partnership and inclusiveness County Dublin VEC looks forward to receiving the promised invitation from the Tánaiste, to discuss the approach to achieving this with her Department.”
With a population of 250,000, South Dublin has a high proportion of young people with 38% of the population under the age of 25. The new Clonburris Community College will be among the most modern schools in the country, providing a broad range of high quality education services to the highly populated Lucan area
